David and Becky are the proud second generation family owners of Happy Zach’s Kettle Korn, a beloved business that has been delighting customers with its freshly popped kettle korn since 1998. The venture into the world of kettle korn began with a passion for providing a unique, high-quality snack, which has since grown into a community staple known for its commitment to quality, freshness and taste.

Family Life:

God blessed David and Becky with three wonderful children. Their journey as a family has been profoundly shaped by the health challenges faced by their youngest child Zachary, who spent over a year as an inpatient at Phoenix Children’s Hospital (PCH). During this time, he underwent 18 major surgeries, a testament to the resilience of their family and the critical role of PCH in their lives. Zachary was unable to recover from his 18th surgery and passed away the following day.

Community Involvement:

The couple’s experience at PCH not only highlighted the importance of quality pediatric care but also inspired them to give back. David and Becky served for four years on the Heart Family Advisory Committee at PCH, where they played a pivotal role in advising and guiding the hospital towards improving care on the Cardiac ICU floor. Their firsthand experience provided invaluable insights that helped shape better patient and family experiences.

Bringing Hope Through Community Events:

While on the committee, David and Becky organized a reunion event, a unique gathering that brought together current and former patients, their families, and PCH staff. This event was not just a celebration but a powerful symbol of hope. It allowed the hospital staff to see their patients in a joyful, playful environment outside the confines of the hospital, fostering a deeper connection and understanding. For the patients and their families, seeing the staff in such a setting was equally uplifting, reinforcing the human side of healthcare.

Legacy of Support:

God has blessed Happy Zach’s Kettle Korn to continue to support the community, particularly focusing on fundraising efforts for Phoenix Children’s Hospital and other initiatives that benefit children and families in need. Their commitment extends to providing support for families who have experienced the heartbreaking loss of a child.

Recognizing the unique grief these families endure, David and Becky host an annual Christmas party exclusively for them. This event offers a space for these families to come together, share memories, find solace, and celebrate the lives of their loved ones in a community of understanding and support. Their business has become more than just a source of delicious snacks; it’s a beacon of community spirit, support, and remembrance, reflecting their personal journey and commitment to making a positive impact.
